Reversible Mousetrap Car “How To” Video
Posted by: John in Family, School, Videos - Movies, tags: Mousetrap Car, Openshot Video Editor, Reversible Mousetrap CarA while back, I posted a couple of pictures of a moustrap car that Katie built for Science Olympiad. Quite a few people have looked at those pictures while searching for “Reversible Moustrap Cars”. That prompted us to make a short video of how we made our moustrap car reverse. Click on the video below to see how we did it. Enjoy! By the way, this video was made with the great Openshot Video Editor for Ubuntu Linux.

What did you make your bushings out of? To reduce the friction.

What are the silver things used to reduce friction called?

We used small steel washers between wheels and the body to help reduce friction and keep the wheels away from the body. We did not use any kind of sleeve on the axle to reduce friction, but we should have. The next year, we put a small piece of a drinking straw around the axle and that worked pretty good as a bearing. Everyone needs to realize that this video was only to show how we made the mousetrap car reverse. It really needed a lot more work to make it work well. So, to ask questions about anything except the reversing part, is really wasting time. We don’t have those answers.

Could you please send some design ideas to me for a school project? I need help with making a mouse trap car that will go 40ft forward and reverse.
Sincerely,
Matthew Johnson
