Blessing in the Curse?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

Do you realize how much God loves us?
Do you realize that the curse brought by Adam and Eve’s sins were because God loves us so much? Stay with me now.
God could have made us all robots that are forced to love Him, but He wanted and wants such an intimate relationship with us, that He wants us to love Him by choice. But, nothing impure can ever be in the presence of pure God. So, what is there to do?

When Adam and Eve sinned against the Lord, they were barred from the Garden of Eden and the curse of death was brought upon the world. A clear separation from God. Did God do this out of LOVE?

I believe He did. Right from the beginning, God had a redemptive plan for us to be able to return to Him. That plan started at the beginning! In Genesis 3:22-24, the Bible tells about Adam and Eve being banished from the garden and a cherubim with a flaming sword prevented them from going back. He was guarding them from the tree of life. What would happen if they ate from the tree of life? They would live forever! Isn’t that good? Read that again! They would live FOREVER… in their sinful fallen state! Forever, without a way back to God.
God so loved us that he would not allow us to live forever in the fallen state. Sin brought the curse, sin brought death, The curse and death revealed God’s amazing love.

The penalty of sin is death. The Bible says the “Wages of sin is death”. (Romans 6:23) Wages are something we earn. We earn and deserve death. But Romans 6:23 goes further and continues “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

You see, God loved us so much, that He gave His only Son Jesus, who was the only one ever in the world WITHOUT sin, to be sin for us. He died for the sin we deserved to die for! He took the penalty for us. The Bible says in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” HALLELUJAH!

You might say then, “Well, how could a loving God…” You are wrong, HE DIDN’T! We need to continue after John 3:16 and read john 3:17. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

You see, God used death as a blessing. He has done EVERYTHING so you can be with Him and have a relationship with Him. He did not come to condemn you. He wants to have a relationship to you. He wants it so bad, to the point of DEATH!

So, the choice is yours. This free gift that Jesus has is for you. This free gift of eternal life with Him. But, just as Adam and Eve had a choice to disobey God, because God did not want them to be robots, He gave YOU the choice to either accept His free gift of eternal life with Him, or NOT!

If you reject His gift though, remember, the choice is YOURS, not His. He did not come into the world to condemn you, He came to save you from eternal death, separation from Him FOREVER! If you don’t care about that, remember that without Jesus, you can’t have any of His attributes. Without Jesus, you won’t have any love. Without Jesus you won’t have any peace. Without Jesus, you won’t have any joy. Without Jesus, you won’t have any life. Without Jesus you won’t have any light. Without Jesus, you won’t have any justice. FOREVER and EVER and EVER. No love, no peace, only sadness, only death, only darkness. As the Bible says “weeping and gnashing of teeth” for ever and ever. That is NOT what God wants. It is only what is left without God.

So, what should I do? The Bible says to Repent (stop what you are doing, turn around and go the opposite way). Acknowledge you have sinned (disobeyed God, broke His laws), Confess them to Him (Tell Him about them, asking for forgiveness), and BELIEVE. Believe what He says in true and TRUST HIM that it is true. Accept His free gift and follow Him for the rest of your life! “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

It will be the most amazing adventure you could ever imagine! Accept this blessing that came from the curse. You will NEVER regret it! Mercy triumphs over judgment. (James 2:13b)
