The Knack

Last weekend, our family took a trip to my parents in Butte where we have our taxes done. While there, a conversation came up of my childhood curiosity with electrical things. At an early age, I was told, I would take tail lights off the cars and take doorbells on the house apart. I remember being given alarm clocks that didn’t work. These were the old mechanical type with lots of gears and springs and things. I would take those clocks completely apart and reassemble them and they would work. This curiosity with the mechanical and electrical has never left me. When I became a Ham Radio operator, I would completely disassemble old TVs and Radios and organize the parts and build stuff out of them. I now know that this “thing”, “sickness”, “curiosity”, or what ever you want to call it, is called “The Knack“. Once you have it, you might be able to repress it into remission, but you can never get rid of it. Here is a classic Youtube clip of “The Knack”.
