He Wants To Rescue You… Be Rescued!

How can a loving God send people to hell?

If you are asking this question, then you have it all wrong.
Why should God send someone to heaven that curses at Him, spits at Him, and denies His existence?
The fact is, is that none of us deserve to go to heaven. We know in the deepest part of us that we are a rebellious self seeking people. Everyone know that they do wrong things. In Bible speak, those things are called sin, and we ALL have done it.

So, the question is still there: How can a loving God send people to hell?

Let’s say we are in the middle of the ocean on an inner tube. An inner tube with a leak. The ocean is our sin and the inner tube is all the good things we do. We try to keep the inner tube inflated by working so hard blowing it up while it is leaking away. Trying to save our selves from our own sin by trying to do more good stuff than bad is like trying to keep that inner tube inflated and afloat. Eventually you will drown and die in your sin.

But, let’s say a helicopter comes by to rescue you. The pilot lowers the craft down to the inner tube and you notice that besides the pilot, there is only one other seat in the aircraft and it is taken by his right hand man. The pilot and the other man talk. Then in an instant, the right hand man jumps out of the helicopter into the ocean to make a place for you in the helicopter.

The pilot is God the Father, and the right hand man is Jesus His son. He jumped into your ocean of sin to save you. He took your sin upon Himself to rescue you. All you have to do is get in….

But you don’t.
You keep trying at your own efforts to keep that inner tube afloat and finally fail. You die. You die in the ocean of your sin and go to that place where sinners go.

Your friends then ask: How can a loving God send people to hell?

The answer is: HE DOESN’T!

Our own sin and rebellion and refusal to accept God’s rescue is what sends us to hell.

Everyone know John 3:16 which says: ” For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.” (Amplified version)

But, there is more…
The following verse, that you don’t hear quoted as much says: “For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.” (Amplified version)

So, my friend. God came to rescue us from our ocean of sin. All we have to do is to “be rescued”. If you reject that, then you are left to your self. Jesus came to save us, not send us to hell. He knows our sin and rebellion is larger than our means to save our self. That is called GRACE. There is NOTHING that we can do to reject God’s love for us. Accept His rescue, be forgiven, and He will then help you overcome that ocean of sin, because, He did. He drowned in it, but He overcame it and is still God’s right hand man. He is there for you. What are you waiting for? Climb into that helicopter!
