On the week-end of August 23-25, 2013, most of Carol’s family got together for a 60th birthday party for her brother Doug. We rented the Savenac Bunkhouse at a bunk house at Haugan, MT. We then went on the Hiawatha Rails to Trails bike ride. It is a 15 mile bike ride. Some of our group were more adventurous and traveled another 8 miles to Avery, Idaho. John’s Dad and Mom lived in Avery after they first got married in the 40’s when Dad worked on the Milwaukee R.R. At that time there were no roads into Avery, only the train, on the very trail we traveled, through many tunnels and over many trestles. Can Funerals Be Good? I’ve been to a few funerals that were really good, and Dad’s is now among that list. While we will all grieve at his loss, we don’t grieve as the the world does. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 says “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.” Here are pictures of dads “good” funeral. We love you and will see you soon. -John

Both the ladies and guys played Missoula’s teams and won both. Here are some action shots of the games played on April 27, 2013. Click HERE to see them.
Here it is… The video of Jefferson High School’s Drama Department. Desire played the role of Annie and did a terrific job. Katie played a homeless person, and Ana helped with the set. The whole cast did a great job! You can find lots of photos of the play HERE.
The Helena Independent Record had a nice article about a friend of our family, Lyle Schwabauer. Read the article HERE. Lyle is a great artist, and a kind man. If you are in the Helena area, stop by the studio at Upper Missouri Artists Gallery and see him at work.

We celebrated Katie’s 16th birthday last weekend. We all dressed up and went out to dinner at the Jade Garden. We had a great time. We were put in a back room with a couple of other large parties, and one couple. One of the parties began to sing “Happy Birthday” to someone at their table. As soon as they were done, the next party started singing “Happy Birthday” to someone at their table. Of course, we couldn’t resist, we started sing “Happy Birthday” to Katie. By that time, the entire room was singing “Happy Birthday”, laughing, and having a great time. At home, she opened some presents, which included a nice Hope Chest.
The next day, Katie had a couple of friends over for a small private party. They had a good time too.
Unfortunately, we forgot to bring a camera with us when we went out to dinner, but here are some pictures of Katie dressed up, and of her small private party. Click the picture to see more photos.
