On Saturday evening, March 21, Neighborhood Assembly of God had their 2009 Missions Banquet. Our Keynote Speaker was Missionary Andy Raatz, missionary to Moldova. Carol and I had the privilege of traveling to Moldova in October 2008 on a short term missions trip with Neighborhood Assembly. What an awesome time it was. You can read, and see all about it HERE.

Besides being blessed with a challenging message from Andy, on personal love for those we are serving, we were blessed by the music of Cissy Padget. She is Helena’s own singer, song writer, and author. We also heard from Tim Kern, our local missionary to the college campuses of Helena and Chi Alpha. Jeff Larson gave us an update on past projects that we have begun in Moldova, and Craig Charlton was a superb Master of Ceremonies.  Andy, then spoke at our church services on Sunday. We had a good time of prayer for him, his family, Moldova, and the Home of Hope.

Team 2

Missions Trip to Moldova – Oct 2 – 13, 2008

Carol and I (John) went on a Missions Trip to Moldova with our church, Neighborhood Assembly of God. We were part of the second team to go to Moldova.  We left for Moldova on October 2, and returned on October 13.  While in Moldova, our team helped work on the construction of two different churches, visited some elderly in their homes, ministered at a prison, gave testimonies in several services, preached in several services, taught Moldovan pastors, had a session on relationships with medical students, created new friendships, and had a lot of fun.

Moldova is a land locked country between Romania and Ukraine.  It is one of the poorest nations in Europe with a large number of the people living outside of the country, working and sending money back home to live on.  There is much trafficking of women and children, and them being sold as sex slaves or for free labor.  Many of these women are sent to the US and other parts of the world. Yes, the slave trade is alive in America and around the world.
