The Helena Independent Record had a nice article about a friend of our family, Lyle Schwabauer. Read the article HERE. Lyle is a great artist, and a kind man. If you are in the Helena area, stop by the studio at Upper Missouri Artists Gallery and see him at work.
Billings Montana experienced a tornado on June 20, 2010. I had to travel to Billings on the next day to see if any equipment of ours (for my work) was damaged. Here is a short video I took of the aftermath of the tornado.
As I travel around the state of Montana for my job, I come by some interesting sites. One of my favorite subjects, is the interesting “Fence Post Art” around the state. Here are a couple more fine examples. Click one of the pictures to see larger views. Click HERE to see more pictures that I have taken from around the great state of Montana.
Living in the Elkhorn Mountains in Southwest Montana, we are used to getting lots of snow. We have been waiting for the usual spring snow storms to arrive, and they did not disappoint us. Last night we got about eight inches of snow. Here is a picture. Notice the back of the basket ball backboard. Yes, the kids have been out playing basketball in the nice spring weather that preceded the snow storm.
We were greeted, once again, this morning, with a beautiful Montana sunrise. Here are a couple of pictures. Click on one to see a larger view.
I cropped one of them and made it suitable for use as a desktop wallpaper. Click the picture below, then right click and select “Save As” and save it on your computer.
The Weather Report V.S. Reality… The weather report says we are supposed to get less than a half inch of snow. It has reported this for a couple of days. It has been snowing steadily, but lightly, for over the past 24 hours and we now have close to a half a foot, not a half an inch. Click on a picture to see a larger view.
We are used to living in this odd little weather bubble at Jefferson City, Montana. I guess it is time to go plow the snow!
On December 1, I went out the door from work and saw a herd of Elk run past the back fence of the parking lot in Helena, MT. I quickly snapped a little video of it. The camera was not set up right and the video turned out too bright, but here it is. 38 elk in Helena, MT. That is another reason I live in Montana!
About a week ago, I had to take one of my daughters over to Boulder for a school meeting. On the way back, as I came over Boulder Hill, heading down the pass to Jefferson City, the sun was just setting. It was a very beautiful site. I stopped and took a couple of snapshots and here they are. Click on a picture to see a larger view.
